Uva Nestum Wine & SPA – Boutique Wine & Relaxation in the Mesta Valley
One of the things I love most about exploring Bulgaria’s wineries is that every estate has its own personality. Uva Nestum impressed me from the moment we arrived.
Set just outside Gotse Delchev, surrounded by vineyards and with spectacular mountain views in every direction, I was expecting a pleasant winery hotel. What I wasn’t expecting was just how modern, stylish and luxurious the whole complex feels.
Our suite overlooked the lake and vineyards from its own private terrace, making it the perfect place to sit with a glass of wine (or bottle) and simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Boutique Winemaking with a Personal Touch
Unlike some of Bulgaria’s larger wineries, Uva Nestum focuses on producing small quantities of handcrafted wines with an emphasis on quality rather than volume.
One of the highlights of our stay was the guided wine tasting, led by one of the winery’s own winemakers. Their passion for the wines, the vineyards and the winemaking process made the tasting feel far more personal than simply sampling a few glasses.
We really got the impression that every bottle has been created with genuine care and attention to detail.
A Hotel Worth Visiting
Although the winery is the main attraction, the hotel is one of the best we’ve been to in Bulgaria.
The rooms are modern and beautifully designed. Waking up to views across the vineyards from our terrace was one of my favourite memories of the trip.
The estate also offers a spa with indoor and outdoor pools, wellness facilities and vinotherapy treatments, although on this visit we were so busy enjoying the wine and the beautiful grounds that we never actually found time to use it – a good excuse to return!
As we wandered around the estate, we also discovered plenty to explore beyond the hotel itself, including beautifully landscaped gardens, a small farm and children’s play areas, making it somewhere that is great for families as well as couples.
Wonderful Food to Match the Wine
The restaurant was another highlight of our stay.
Using fresh local ingredients, many sourced from the estate’s own farm and nearby producers, the menu perfectly complements the wines.
