Villa Yustina – Discovering the Wines of the Rhodope Foothills
Located in the picturesque village of Ustina, just a short drive from Plovdiv, Villa Yustina combines a welcoming boutique winery with comfortable accommodation, beautiful gardens and some of our favourite Bulgarian wines. It’s a wonderfully peaceful place to slow down, enjoy the scenery and discover why this region has become one of Bulgaria’s leading wine destinations.
A Relaxed Stay
Unlike some of the more contemporary winery hotels we’ve visited, the accommodation at Yustina Villas has a more traditional feel.
The rooms are comfortable and welcoming and everything feels well cared for and perfectly suited to the relaxed atmosphere of the estate.
The gardens quickly became one of our favourite places to spend time. Sitting outside with a glass of wine surrounded by vineyards and the peaceful countryside is exactly what a winery escape should be.
The Wine Tasting
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the wine tasting.
Villa Yustina has built an excellent reputation for producing high-quality wines that showcase both international grape varieties and Bulgarian classics. Their collections include the elegant Monogram range, the Four Seasons collection and wines made from local varieties such as Mavrud, Rubin and Dimyat, all grown in the winery’s own vineyards at the foot of the Rhodope Mountains.
We enjoyed the tasting so much that we couldn’t leave empty-handed and ended up taking a case of our favourite bottles home with us, always a good sign after a winery visit!
Food & Relaxation
The restaurant offers a menu centred around seasonal ingredients that pairs with the estate’s wines. We found the garden terrace to be the perfect place to relax after an afternoon of wine tasting.
One of the things we appreciated most about Villa Yustina wasn’t any single feature, it was the overall atmosphere. The combination of peaceful gardens and excellent wines made it somewhere we were happy to spend a couple of days simply unwinding.
Villa Yustina may not be the flashiest winery hotel in Bulgaria, but it has charm. If you’re looking for authentic hospitality, excellent wines and a relaxing countryside setting, it’s somewhere we’d happily recommend.
