Our Story

Eat Stay Love Bulgaria began in 2013 with a simple idea.

After moving from the UK to Sofia, Rebecca quickly discovered that it wasn’t always easy to find reliable information in English about places to visit, restaurants worth trying or experiences beyond the usual tourist attractions. As she explored Sofia and travelled around Bulgaria, she began documenting the places she genuinely enjoyed, hoping the information would help others discover the country she was growing to love.

What started as a small personal blog soon became much more.

Over the years, Eat Stay Love Bulgaria grew into a trusted resource for visitors and expats looking for honest recommendations. New contributors joined the website, sharing their own experiences and helping to expand the collection of restaurant reviews, travel guides, hotels, wellness recommendations and hidden gems across Bulgaria.

Along the way, the website opened doors to opportunities that Rebecca could never have imagined. It led to friendships, invitations to appear on Bulgarian television, including bTV, collaborations with local businesses and advertisers, all of which helped support the continued growth of the website.

As life became busier with family, work and other commitments, Eat Stay Love Bulgaria remained a passion project. While the website was updated less frequently, the love for discovering and sharing Bulgaria never disappeared.

Today, Eat Stay Love Bulgaria has been relaunched with a fresh look and a renewed purpose.

Together with Rebecca’s close friend Kylie, we’re revisiting many of our favourite places, updating long-standing recommendations and discovering new ones along the way. Every article is written with the same philosophy that inspired the blog over a decade ago: to share places we genuinely enjoy and would happily recommend to our own friends and family.
