 Summer time in Bulgaria

Bulgaria also has some beautiful beaches and seaside resorts. The weather in the summer reaches temperatures in the 30’s with lots of sunshine so Bulgaria is a great place if you’re looking for a cheap European destination for your summer holidays! You may not have thought before about spending your summer on beaches in Bulgaria but once you’ve been we promise you’ll probably want to stay forever!

Sunny Beach

If you’ve heard of a beach resort in Bulgaria it is most likely Sunny Beach! There has also been a TV show in the UK depicting Sunny Beach as the Ibiza of the Balkans! There’s endless bars and clubs offering cheap drinks so be prepared to sleep all day and party all night if you choose Sunny Beach as your next summer holiday spot! It’s just 25 minutes from Burgas airport and there’s plenty of cheap flights and package deals available. If you’re driving from Sofia the journey is 425kms and should take around 4 hours.

Sozopol

Sozopol is the absolute opposite of Sunny Beach! A quiet and pretty old Bulgarian town with a great choice of romantic restaurants and bars. Imagine taking a stroll along the dimly lit cobbled streets, stopping to buy some ice cream and looking at the vast array of trinkets and treasures on sale. You may find yourself drifting to another time as you look at the beautiful ancient buildings. Stop for a glass of Bulgarian wine, sit back listening to the sounds of the waves gently crashing to the shore and remind yourself that you’re in Bulgaria … Sozopol is only 30kms from Burgas airport and has a great choice of hotels and hotel apartments all very reasonably priced and close to the beach. Nessebar

Nessebar, Bulgaria

Close to Sozopol, in the Burgas province you will find Nessebar, a beautiful ancient town. 18th century buildings, remains of fortress walls and narrow cobbled streets filled with quaint shops selling local souvenirs, this is a must see place in Bulgaria. Get lost in the rich history and soak up the atmosphere of this unique and magical place.

If you love quiet beaches with golden sand then you will love Lozenets. It’s small and relaxed but has many nice bars and restaurants so it’s the perfect place to enjoy a well earned rest! Lozenets is situated around 60kms from Burgas airport.

Varna

Varna is the largest of the cities and resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. With a major airport offering flights from all over Europe, Varna is often referred to as the summer capital of Bulgaria. One of the most popular resorts in Varna is Golden Sands which offers luxury hotels and white beaches. In Varna you will also find a Roman Spa, a Sea Garden and a Dolphinarium to keep you entertained.
