“Once Upon a Time Biblioteka” situated inside the National Library St. Cyril and Metodiy is actually a bar and a nightclub (and the bar actually has a separate entrance on the right side of the building, despite what google maps might tell you), but in summer they also have an outside terrace – café behind the library, in Doctor’s Garden (Doktorska Gradina). If you are driving, it’s better to park on Krakra, Shipka or on Oborishte street, and if you are walking – well, we are sure you’ll find it just behind the National Library!
We’ve tested Once Upon a Time Biblioteka for you, and it is a very nice place to go to if you want to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the garden, or if you are looking for a place in the center where you can have your breakfast on Sunday morning (or any other morning, for that matter), while everybody else is still sleeping and the streets are so quiet that you can actually hear the birds.
I didn’t see any special breakfast options, but they do have omelettes, toasts, and of course, all sorts of drinks. Some of the tables have sofas instead of chairs, so you can literally have your breakfast and go back to sleep under the morning sun without leaving the café.
It can also be a good option for those of you who have kids – there’s plenty of space for the children to run around and play while the parents are enjoying their morning coffee. And once you are done, you are just two minutes away from Doctor’s Garden with two playgrounds for children.
Of course, even the outside café of “Once Upon a Time… Biblioteka” is still a bar, so you can always go there in the evening for a drink. However, it’s still pretty chilly outside, so don’t forget to take something warm with you or let us know if you find out where they keep their blankets!
