If you’re looking for very good authentic Indian / Pakistani food in the centre of Sofia then this is the place!

I consider myself to be a bit of an expert on this type of food and can honestly say that this is one of the best I’ve tried. When I lived in Dubai, despite it being a very hot climate, I would eat spicy Indian food on a weekly basis as it’s one of my favourites!

The decor in Kohinoor is beautiful and the restaurant is very cosy, you feel like you’re in someone’s house as it has many rooms. There’s also a lovely covered garden at the back of the restaurant and an open garden at the front which make this restaurant perfect in both winter and summer.

Most recently I was in Kohinoor, sitting in the garden and I had the most amazing Mango and Coconut Shrimp Curry. It wasn’t too spicy and with a glass or two of white wine this really made for a perfect summer evening meal!

The service is great and they have menus available in Bulgarian and English. I also read in the menu a very interesting story about the origin of the name, Kohinoor. The Kohinoor diamond is supposedly the oldest diamond in the world and was discovered in India over 5000 years ago. The name means mountain of light, and interestingly for me, the diamond is now owned by the British Royal family!

You can expect to spend around 80 leva (40 Euro) for dinner for two and drinks. What’s even better is that they also deliver anywhere in Sofia. Be sure to make a reservation as Kohinoor gets very busy, particularly at the weekend. Can’t believe I almost forgot to mention, the Saffron homemade ice cream is out of this world, you must try this!!

What we love about it:

Very authentic.

Great Service.

What they can improve:

I’ve been three times now and have liked everything I’ve ordered and had good service so I have no suggestions for improvements!
