If you love Indian food as much as I do – you absolutely have to go to Gurkha – Indian & Nepali Restaurant! It took me quite some time to find this place, and I’m really glad that I did.  “Gurkha” is located in Lozenets, and while this district is considered to be pretty central, the chances to just stumble upon this place while taking a walk are pretty slim, unless of course you live in Lozenets.

To be exact, Gurkha is an Indian and Nepali cuisine restaurant, which means that some of the dishes may seem unusual at first, but I’ve been going to this place for almost a year now, and I really haven’t managed to find anything on the menu that I wouldn’t like (except for “Mutton Madras” curry – it is way too spicy for me or anyone I know, and I can eat “Tabasco” sauce for breakfast!).

The restaurant is not very big, but very nicely decorated and even has a fireplace. There’s also a terrace, but I really think that it’s nicer to sit inside, enjoying the music and the light smell of incenses. There’s also a much more practical reason for choosing a table inside: you get to see what people around you order, and if something looks especially tasty, you can always ask your waiter to bring you the same thing! The staff speak English, and if you come early enough, the chef himself might come to take your order and help you with your choices.

Now about my personal favorites – “Boneless Butter Chicken” tastes really good. I also usually take some “Butter Naan” bread and some rice, but of course, these are not the only tasty dishes on the menu. The restaurant also has some nice vegetarian options, like “Paneer cheese in Spinach sauce”, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find your own favorite food in “Gurkha”!

What we love about it:

Everything! Except the Mutton Madras Curry!
