Club of the Architects is situated in the Oborishte district and is quite hard to notice (at least it was for me). I’ve passed by the building lots and lots of times before a friend told me that it was actually a restaurant. I personally have never been there in the evening, but judging by the fact that it’s usually full even at lunchtime during the week, I strongly suggest booking your table if you really want to get in!

The restaurant itself is beautiful, but not in a trendy “modern look” way. When you walk in you immediately notice how much sunlight it has (obviously, not at night) and how green it seems because of all the plants. The restaurant has an inside part (open all the time) and the garden part (open when the weather is nice). If you don’t feel like eating, they also have a lovely cafe on the the other side of the same building, that shares the same garden as the restaurant.

What we love about it:

  • The restaurant’s menu is not very big, which is good, because all their products are always fresh and you don’t have to spend hours trying to choose your meal
  • For me, Club of the Architects Restaurant serves the best grilled Sea Bream in Sofia (the fish is always fresh and so delicious that I haven’t managed to take any pictures of it so far – I always eat it and then remember that I should’ve taken a picture for the review)
  • You absolutely have to try the “Potatoes Gratin” with blue cheese
  • The restaurant offers some traditional Bulgarian dishes, like Shopska salata, but also many many surprising food combinations that you don’t usually see in the menu, like a chicory salad with walnuts and cheese or a celery soup with chorizo.
  • The staff are always very nice and helpful and they all speak English, so you’ll have no problem communicating with them
  •  If you like chocolate desserts, their “Chocolate Soufflé” (which is actually a “Fondant au Chocolat”) is one of the best in the city

What they can improve:

  • The fact that you always have to book a table if you are coming for lunch or dinner (but this problem is not specific to this restaurant)
  • This one will be more about personal preferences: La Crème Brulée has way too much sugar crust on top of it, and instead of enjoying the taste of the dessert you spend time trying to take out the sugar stuck in your teeth.

Aside from that, Club of the Architects is a great restaurant, and definitely a place to go to if you want to enjoy some tasty food in a beautiful garden before winter.
