I have deep respect for everybody who eats healthy. But I am myself not one of those people and this is why I absolutely LOVE French fries (or chips- whatever makes you happy). In my constant search for good French fries and good beer, I discovered the beer garden “Na popa”.
Very close to one of the key meeting locations downtown Sofia is this beautiful garden, well hidden so no unenlightened person can ever find it. The entrance looks quite bad and the sign (even though it’s big enough) is absolutely invisible unless you are consciously looking to find it. This is why for this specific place, I am choosing to embed a map here. Down in the pictures you can also see the entrance pointed with a big red arrow.
The best thing about this place really are the French fries. And if you love beer as much as I do and decide to combine them, you might just achieve nirvana. At least I do every time I order this magical combo! They have a huge menu (just like most places in Bulgaria) and actually almost everything on the menu is tasty so even if you want to eat healthy they will not disappoint you with a salad or a nice veggie dish.
My personal favorite “character” trait of this place is that it’s cozy both winter and summer time and even though it is located downtown Sofia it is still really quiet. Even when it’s cold outside you can still sit in their winter garden and not feel as if you are indoors.
