I live close to Serdika Mall and go there quite often, so after one year in Sofia I couldn’t really imagine a place that I haven’t been to in this shopping center. That’s why I didn’t pay any attention to the Beach Bar ads all over the parking, thinking they were actually advertising the Beach Bar on Rakovska Street. As usually, it was a friend who showed me this place (I’m writing this and realizing that if I didn’t have any friends I’d probably have to eat at home all the time, because I wouldn’t know where to go). First impression: amazing! A beach on the roof of a mall! I first came to the Beach Bar at sunset, and when I sat down with a mojito in my hand, and my bare feet in the sand, I couldn’t stop thinking that the sea is just meters away and all I have to do to see it is turn my head.

What we love about it:

  • They have regular tables and chairs, but they also have beach chairs and bean bag chairs in the sand, so all you have to do to relax is put your feet in the sand, close your eyes and pretend like you are at the beach
  • A play area for children – it’s not big, but all the children I saw in Beach Bar were happy to play in the sand or run around the little fountain
  • There are several cafes serving food and drinks in Beach Bar, so you can both drink and eat there
  • They have yoga and Pilates classes on weekends during the day and parties with some nice music at night

What they can improve:

  • Nothing really. The place has everything a Beach Bar should have (would be nice to have a pool there, and hey, maybe someday they will build one!)
  • Oh yes, keep in mind that since Beach Bar is in the open air, it is only working in summer (it’s last working day this year will be September 30th). So if you don’t get a chance to go there this year, don’t forget to do it in 2015!
